Mirrors and Masks by Echoes of Nyx is a tale of Psychological Shifting: The paradox of a man hiding behind a psychological mask holding up a mirror for a woman so she can examine and improve her own life. There’s a bluntness to her response—a tearing away of anything she sees as false.
The lyrics tell the story of a woman’s response to a man’s attempt to redirect (mirror) the attention of his own issues and internal conflicts (masks) to the woman in his life.
Her response is to hold up a mirror for him to examine his true self, sans his mask.
